Acoustic, elecgtric or bass? Digital? Tube? Solid-state? Hybrid? 2x12 cabinet? Full-stack? Combo? So many questions...good thing we have all of the answers.
We're real palyers, and we talk to real players, so the amplifiers that we carry aren't simply the ones we feel like selling, they're proven products that will do the most to get you the sound you're looking for. There are a lot of amplifiers available to today's palyers, adn a lot of configutarions to choose from. Let us help you compare "Apples with Apples" and make sure that you're walking away with the most up-to-date information available to help you research and purchase the right tools for your job.
Solid-state amplifiers are relatively inexpensive, very durable and provide a crisp, meaty distortion and sparkling clean tone. Equally great for "chicken pickin" country licks or blazing heavy-metal riffs, solid-state amplifiers are a logical choice for the beginner and the demanding pro as well. Crate's GT-series, Vox's Pathfinder amps, and Ashdown's booming MAG bass line all boost some serious Sold-State pre-and-power amp sections to lift you above the noise and onto the stage.
Of course Tube amps are still considered to provide the "premium" tone for most guitar purists. Basically, vacuum tubes are employed in either the Pre-amp or Power amp sections, or both. This is old-school tone at its best, best known for its smooth overdives, chunky, thick distortion, and warm, "organic" clean tones. Think: Vox Custom Classic series or the Vintage Club series by Crate.
Then there's Digital amplifiers some of the newest innovations on the market...the cool thing is that you can purchase one amp and have it sound like several radically different amplifiers. Need a fender Blackface Twin? Boogie Dual Rectifier? Roland JC120? Simply "dial it in" and let the software and digital processors do the rest. For example, the vox Valvetronix line of digital amplifiers represent some of the most sought-after guitar amp tones ever created.
